In early November 2018 I had the privilege of taking part in a 3 day horse ride with Hidden Trails by Horseback in the Victorian High Country out of Mansfield.
Organised and run by Christian and Laura Hayes, this ride was the realisation of a dream and plan I’d had for several years.
It was a great time, above and beyond my expectations. The night before the ride we had a pub meal and met some of the other riders.
The well organised efficient departure the next morning meant that no time was wasted in getting into the riding enjoyment.
The quality of horses used for the ride was exceptional. They were strong and dependable and Christian and Laura made sure there were horses to suit all levels of riding ability.
The Hayes had purchased eleven Kent Saddles about ten years ago and since then have used them extensively in their High Country rides as well as at El Questro, in the Kimberley, near Kununurra in Western Australia.
It was good for me to spend some extended time riding in a Kent Saddle, something I must admit I hadn’t done for several years.
I’m pleased to report that it was a comfortable ride and each day proved to be a pleasurable experience as we made our way through scenic mountain country, breathing the invigorating crisp mountain air.
To top it all off we were treated to delicious meals, prepared and tastefully presented by Christian, who is a qualified chef.
He’s also added farrier training to his skills list and for four years he worked in a trail riding venture in the mountain country of USA. Undoubtedly the years of training and experience have contributed to the success of Hidden Trails by Horseback.
Laura’s exceptional horsemanship skills were obvious during the ride and I appreciated her assistance and knowledge. The practical help given by the dedicated and energetic helpers was also terrific – Thank you team.
Christian and Laura Hayes provide a top quality, totally enjoyable horse riding adventure. I highly recommend Hidden Trails by Horseback to anyone!
