Twelve thousand people flocked to the inaugural Snowflakes in Stanthorpe Festival; double the number expected. Fun was had by all ages, with visitors enjoying some of the best produce and music the region has to offer, ice-skating and playing in the snow.
The Adults Whip Cracking Competition at the Snowflakes in Stanthorpe festival was also a close call with a Crack-Off for first place. Jason Traplin (pictured left) came out the winner by a whisker with Hannah Morris (pictured right) runner up. Both received prizes donated by Kent Saddlery.

At Napier Downs Station on the Gibb River Road, WA, ringer Paul Hersbach invested in some good quality farrier tools and next morning was keen to put them to good use.

Don Harris, “More than a Mechanic” and Wendy Bailey, “More than a Nurse” visited the Kent Saddlery travelling shop at Meda Station, Derby, W.A. and Lyle and Helen lined up with them for a photo to honour them and their story in “Stories of Australian Country People”.
Dan McIntosh, founder of the popular Facebook page “Station Photo’s” and Helen Kent chatting about Dan’s story and photos in Helen’s “Stories of Australian County People”. Dan’s story is titled “It all started with one like” and refers to Dan’s book “Outback Stations” which features photos and captions from across Australia. Awesome! There are a lot of great photos in Helen’s book “Stories of Australian Country People”.
Lyle and Helen first met Jude McGrath in the late 1990’s at Moola Bulla Station near Halls Creek, WA, where Mike Shaw was the manager, and Jude was in the stock camp. She purchased dinner hobbles at that time and during Lyle and Helen’s visit to Spring Creek in 2016, Jude still had her good old hobbles with her.
